It was perfect. I usually have low expectations for comic book films, I have low expectations for the upcoming Hulk film. However Jon Favreau proved he could direct what is sure to become an enduring franchise (assuming Marvel can get him and all the players back to the table).
There are only three kinds of bad reviews this film is going to receive.
1) The reviewer doesn't like comic books and considers it low brow.
2) The reviewer LOVES comic books and has too high an expectation of the tiny details that did not make it onto the screen.
3) The reviewer can't just come out and say it was an awesome film without comparing it to an academy award winning picture.
It's a comic book, and it was done perfectly, with an excellent balance of character, action, and funny bits. Visually it was stunning and the best use of superhero CGI to date.
FORECAST $100 million dollar weekend (assuming there are that many seats available). Check back to see if I'm right, or subscribe to my feed.
